Hazen Law Group LLC, a firm dedicated to the practice of elder and special needs planning law, estate planning, estate administration, and agriculture law is seeking an Estate Administration Paralegal/Legal Assistant. The Paralegal/Legal Assistant will help with our estate administration cases.
 
Job Title: Estate Administration Paralegal/Legal Assistant
Location: Harrisburg, PA
Reports to: Supervising Attorney
Summary: The Paralegal/Legal Assistant will help with our estate administration cases.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of probate documents including petitions for probate, accountings and related court filings and correspondence as instructed by a supervising attorney.
  • Prepare and file inheritance tax and fiduciary tax returns under the direction of supervising attorney.
  • Maintain a calendar for estate deadlines.
  • Help ensure clients’ estates are administered as intended. To accomplish these goals, you will work closely with clients, attorneys, bankers, CPAs, financial planners, and other professionals to obtain account values and assist clients with liquidation and transfer of accounts.
  • Communicate with clients and be the primary interface between attorneys and the firm’s clients.
  • Organize and compile documents in preparation for client meetings, manage the flow of matters through the process, and finalize the delivery of completed work.
  • You must be organized, accurate, and efficient in using the technological resources needed to complete assigned work.
  • This position requires dealing with sensitive, confidential information as well as administrative duties related to file preparation, organization, and maintenance. You will interact and build relationships with clients and other professionals, in person, via email, and over the telephone.
  • Often we are dealing with clients in some of the most difficult times of their lives, which means often you will be expected to handle them with empathy, tact, and understanding.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or at least 1 year of experience in estate administration, or related field preferred
  • Proven aptitude with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with Clio and/or Lackner a plus
  • Excellent communication and grammar skills
  •  
    Requirements:

  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check.

  • Communicate with clients and be the primary interface between attorneys and the firm’s clients.

  • File deeds and other legal documents with Recorder of Deeds’ Offices.
  • You must be organized, accurate, and efficient in using the technological resources needed to complete assigned work by established deadlines.

    Responsibilities:

  • Perform clerical duties such as data entry, copying, scanning, mailing and drafting correspondence.
  • Serve as back-up for answering phones, directing calls to appropriate staff, and scheduling appointments with attorneys.
  • Outreach to external parties to gather information in a timely manner as needed for files.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by attorneys, office manager or paralegals.
  • You must be organized, accurate, and efficient in using the technological resources needed to complete assigned work.
